Orchid Bark 12-18mm (Aroids, Orchids, Chunky Mixes)

Orchid bark is an ideal growing medium for optimising drainage and aeration. It is perfect as a standalone medium for orchids or as a soil amendment in chunky growing mixes for aroids and tropical plants. The large chips (12-18mm) of bark create air pockets allowing air movement and rapid drainage of water.

This premium bark is a natural, organic product made from the finest quality 100% pure New Zealand Pinus radiata bark. Pinus radiata is sourced from renewable man made forests ensuring availability into the future.

The bark can be used straight from the bag. Its stable EC means there’s no need for initial flushing. Orchid bark is pH balanced and because it will not break down in the pot it maximises availability of nutrients for the plant.

Orchid bark provids a variety of natural properties to the plant and a wealth of benefits for the grower. During the bark aging process beneficial micro-organisms proliferate and any pathogens are eliminated. The outer surface of the bark chip is broken down, allowing it to hold water and nutrients for the plant, while the inner structure remains hard and stable. Combined with a uniform chip size, with minimal fines and wood, this bark gives consistent hydration, an ideal wet/dry cycle and also provides excellent longevity.
